# Welcome

The **livespotting Stream Adapter** is an app for Axis cameras. It takes the picture straight from the camera and sends it to the internet – to **livespotting** or **directly to your YouTube channel**. No computer, encoder or port forwarding is needed at the site.

The app can also overlay the time, place, viewing direction, a ticker, your own graphics and weather data on the picture. The camera renders the overlays itself, so they cost no server capacity.

## What you need

* An **Axis camera with ARTPEC-6, -7, -8 or -9** (see [Installation & updates](/stream-adapter/en/installation.md)).
* **AXIS OS 12** or newer. Older cameras from AXIS OS 11.8 can usually be installed but are not tested; with 11.7 and older the installation fails.
* A **user of the camera** the app may use to fetch the picture. Viewer rights are enough.
* An **internet connection** that carries the stream. How much your connection can handle is measured by the app under [Check connection](/stream-adapter/en/stream.md#check-connection).
* For livespotting or YouTube direct: a **free livespotting account**. You create it on your phone during setup.
