# Updates & diagnostics

*Found under: **System → Updates** and **System → Diagnostics**.*

## Updates

With **Check for updates** the app asks **once a day** whether a new version exists. If there is one, you see a notice with a download link. Nothing is **ever installed automatically** – you upload the new package yourself as described under [Updating](/stream-adapter/en/installation.md#updating). Your settings are kept.

During the check the camera sends **no data about itself** – no version, no serial number. It only downloads a public file and compares by itself.

## Diagnostics

**Diagnostics** helps you and our support when something does not work.

The **Monitoring** card shows the running stream in numbers: **bitrate**, **speed** (should be 1.0x – less means the camera cannot keep up), **duplicate** and **dropped frames** and **Last report** (how old the encoder's last progress is; if the value rises, the stream is stalling).

* **Raw data for support** – the state of the app and the exact command it uses to send the picture. **Passwords and tokens have been removed**, so you can pass the raw data on safely.
* **Helpdesk** – opens an email to <support@livespotting.com>. Write in German or English; we translate other languages. After sending you receive an automatic confirmation.
* **Info** – version of the app and links to the product page and privacy policy.
* **Legal notice** – who is behind the app.

> **Tip:** When asking support a question, copy the **raw data** into your email and give your **customer number** – then we can help right away.
