# Destination: YouTube direct

*Found under: **Send to → YouTube**.*

With **YouTube direct** the camera streams live to your **own YouTube channel**. The app creates the broadcast itself; you control it here in the app. You need a free [livespotting account](/stream-adapter/en/konto.md) for this.

> **Note:** The camera only ever sends to **one** destination – the same as the destination in the [Overview](/stream-adapter/en/uebersicht.md). If the livespotting stream is running, **Go live** ends it and sends to YouTube instead. Several destinations at once work via [livespotting](/stream-adapter/en/livespotting.md).

## Connect to YouTube

1. In the **YouTube** tab, click **Connect to YouTube**.
2. The app shows a code and a link. Open the link, sign in at Google with the account of your channel and enter the code.
3. Then click **I have confirmed** in the app.

Green means: the camera may create live broadcasts on your channel. **Disconnect** takes that right away again.

## Go live

**Go live** creates the broadcast on your channel and sends the camera picture straight there. **End broadcast** ends it.

The status tiles show you:

| Tile | Meaning |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **Broadcast** | whether the broadcast is scheduled, live or ended |
| **Signal at YouTube** | how well the picture arrives at YouTube |
| **Viewers now** | how many are watching right now |
| **Interruptions (30 days)** | how often the broadcast broke off |

> **Tip:** If the connection drops briefly, YouTube waits a few minutes and the broadcast continues under the same link. After a longer outage, YouTube ends the broadcast; the app then creates a new one by itself – with a new link, and viewers have to rejoin. With **Continuity** from a livespotting plan they see your still picture instead; link and viewers are kept, and as soon as the camera is back, it continues automatically.

## Broadcast settings

| Field | Meaning |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Title** | Leave empty: then we use the name from [Location & info](/stream-adapter/en/standort.md). |
| **Description** | Text below the video. The first line always reads “Dieser Livestream wird Ihnen präsentiert von livespotting.com”. |
| **Visibility** | **Public**: anyone can find the broadcast. **Unlisted**: only those with the link. **Private**: only you. |
| **Made for kids** | Required by YouTube. Webcams are usually not made specifically for kids. With “Yes”, YouTube switches off chat and comments. |
| **Latency** | How many seconds later the picture reaches the viewers. **Normal** is the most stable and has the best quality – the right choice for webcams. Can only be changed before the start. |
| **Rewind (DVR)** | Viewers can rewind during the broadcast. Can only be changed before the start. |
| **Category, language** | How YouTube classifies the broadcast. |
| **Tags** | Keywords, separated by commas. Leave empty: then we use the tags from Location & info. YouTube gives tags little weight – title and description count more. |
| **Playlist** | Every new broadcast is added automatically to this playlist of your channel – handy with several cameras. |

## Audio

YouTube shows “no data” for a stream with no audio at all. If **Transmit audio** is off, the stream therefore gets a **silent audio track**. If you want the real sound of the camera, switch on **Transmit audio** under [Camera](/stream-adapter/en/stream.md#camera).

## Thumbnail

* **Automatically from the camera**: at the start and every **6 hours** after that a fresh still. More often is not possible, because every new picture costs YouTube quota.
* **Take camera picture now**: a new still immediately.
* **Upload your own picture**: JPG or PNG, at most 2 MB, ideally 1280 × 720.

> **Note:** YouTube only allows custom thumbnails on channels that are **verified by phone**.
